A man and woman were killed when their RV slammed into a barrier wall along SW 112th Avenue.
The accident occurred in the late afternoon and local authorities are unsure of the cause, but it appears that the driver of the RV lost control.
The vehicle careened off the highway and slammed into a thick concrete barrier wall that separated the highway from a residential neighborhood.
The driver of the RV was thrown from the vehicle and found dead at the scene, a female passenger was taken to a local hospital but would later perish from her injuries.
The sound of the incredible impact left nearby residents shaken, literally.
“I was extremely terrified because when you heard whenever the car crashed into the wall, you heard the boom. Like the house actually shook,” said Sheltina Jenkins told NBC Miami.
After colliding with the wall the RV burst into flames, an inferno that had to be put out by local firefighters.
Southbound lanes were closed as law enforcement worked to get the scene under control.
Victims have options
Being in a serious car accident is a traumatic experience. But coping is made more difficult if the accident was caused by negligence or wrongdoing.
A successful car accident lawsuit against those responsible can result in a considerable financial award for the victim and their family.
The first step is meeting with an experienced car accident attorney. They can evaluate the case, provide options, and formulate a strategy that prioritizes the objectives of the client.
Florida imposes a four-year statute of limitations on personal injury lawsuits. Waiting too long to file could mean permanently forfeiting the right legal recourse.
